BARKING ENERGY CENTRE

Published: 11th December, 2025
Advancing Sustainable Infrastructure in East London
Project: Barking Energy Centre
Location: Barking, East London
Product: HydroCell®
Objective: The project’s objective is to deliver low-carbon, resilient district heating that supports local regeneration while cutting emissions and providing reliable energy to the community.
Project Overview
As part of the site’s infrastructure strategy, we supplied our HydroCell® crate system to deliver robust and efficient stormwater management. The installation provides 90m³ of attenuation capacity, ensuring that the site’s essential energy assets remain protected during heavy rainfall events. This safeguard supports long-term operational continuity while aligning with the project’s sustainability objectives.
Environmental Impact
The broader development is engineered to deliver deep and lasting environmental benefits. By integrating low-carbon technologies and future-focused design, the project is set to save an estimated 12,000 tonnes of carbon. It will also supply sustainable energy to more than 10,000 homes and businesses across the region, strengthening the resilience of East London’s energy network.
Significance
The Barking Energy Centre illustrates how practical engineering and innovative, low-carbon solutions can reshape urban infrastructure. It demonstrates that environmental responsibility and technical performance can move in step, creating a blueprint for greener development across the UK.
This project highlights the power of thoughtful design, collaborative delivery, and technology geared toward long-term sustainability.
